FULLERTON, Calif. – Junior Samantha Logan recorded a career-high 24 points and her second consecutive 20-point game as the Titans dropped their final home game to CSUN, 71-82.
The Titans (3-26, 1-14 BWC) scored 71 points, their first 70-point game since they put up 75 points at Pepperdine on Nov. 20.
Freshman Dani Craig also chipped in 15 points, sinking five from behind the arc while Michelle Berry recorded her 21st double-digit scoring game with 10 points.
The Titans got off to a quick start with Craig opening up the game with her first three of the night until the Matadors answered back with two three's of their own to take an early lead.
After CSUN went on to take a 14-7 lead, the Titans answered back with a 7-point run of their own to tie it up and later took the lead off of another three from Craig.
The Titans offense continued to shine in the first quarter as Craig and Logan recorded back-to-back three's to lead the Titans to a six-point lead.
A three from CSUN's Claudia Ramos in the last minute of the first quarter put the Matadors back within one, yet Amanda Tivenius sunk two free throws to give the Titans the 25-22 lead to end the first quarter.
Craig led the Titans offensively in the first ten minutes of play, sinking 4-5 from behind the arc while Logan contributed seven points and four rebounds.
The Matadors came out stronger in the second quarter as the two teams tied it up multiple times, holding off the Titans to only four points in the first five minutes of the second quarter.
Logan once again came through with a timely three to lead the Titans to take the lead once again, leading 35-32 with just over two minutes left on the clock.
A late spur from the Matadors came up just short as the Titans held onto their 39-36 lead at the end of the first half.
Logan led the Titans offensively with 15 points in the first half while pulling down four rebounds while Craig was right behind her, recording 12 points and four rebounds of her own.
The Matadors came back hot by retaking the lead early in the second half until Logan sank her fourth three of the night to battle back for the Titans and retake the two-point lead.
CSUN answered back with a seven-point run to give the Matadors a five-point advantage with just under five minutes left in the first half.
The Matador offense continued to hold their lead and took it into the final quarter, leading the Titans 55-61.
The Matadors took over in the final quarter, taking their largest lead of the game at 14 while the Titans attempted a come back but fell short, falling to CSUN 71-82.
The Titans return to action for their final regular season game as they head to Riverside to take on the Highlanders at 5 p.m.
