Logan Scores Season-High in Titans’ 50-70 Loss to Hawai’i

FULLERTON, Calif. – Samantha Logan scored a season-high 20 points while also collecting seven rebounds as the Titans fell to Hawai'i, 50-70, at Titan Gym on Thursday night.

The Titans (3-25, 1-13 BWC) were outshot in every category including field goals (33.3%), 3-point field goals (35%) and free throws (71.4%).

Freshman Michelle Berry also recorded her 20th double-digit scoring game with her 11-point, six rebound performance tonight.

Hawai'i opened up the game outscoring the Titans 8-2 in the first five minutes of play. Portia Neale sank a deep three with just under four minutes on the clock to cut the deficit, yet Hawai'i answered back immediately with a three of their own.

After the first media time out, Logan recorded her first three of the game to cut the deficit to three, yet Hawai'i's Briana Harris went on to score five points of her own to give the Rainbow Wahine an eight-point lead at the end of the first quarter.

Berry opened up the second quarter with a three to get the Titans in double-digits until Harris once again replied with a three of her own.

After the second media timeout, Hawai'i opened with a five-point run until Logan once again came through with a timely three, sinking her second of the game to get the deficit under ten.

Hawai'i's Harris and Ashleigh Karaitiana recorded back-to-back-to-back three-pointers to open the game back up, taking a 17-point lead.

Another three from Karaitiana closes out the first half leaving the Titans trailing 18-36 after the first half.

The Titans shot 23.3% going only 7-30 from the field in the first half, with four of the seven coming from behind the three-point line.

After an early Hawai'i jump shot, Jade Vega sank two from the free throw line to kick off the Titan offense for the second half.

Hawai'i's Karaitiana made her fifth three-point shot of the night to give Hawai'i a 21-point lead early in the third quarter.

Logan continued to keep pushing the Titans, dropping in her third three of the night followed by a jumper to keep the Titans in the game.

The third quarter was an improvement for the Titans as it was their best scoring quarter thus far, hanging in with Hawai'i putting up 11 points to Hawai'i's 14.

Heading into the final quarter of play, the Titans trailed 30-54 and were led so far by Logan with 13 points and five rebounds.

Berry came up clutch in the fourth quarter, putting in an early four points for the Titans to keep Hawai'i's lead at 25.

Dani Craig got her name on the board sinking her first three of the night while Logan followed up with five points of her own to spur a late Titan come back.

Yet the Titans fell short, dropping the game to Hawai'i 50-70 at Titan Gym on Thursday night. The Titans return to Titan Gym next Thursday night in their final home game as they host CSUN at 7 p.m.
