Titans Fall 43-90 to UC Riverside in Titan Gym

FULLERTON, Calif. – Freshman Lauren Nubla put up 10 points yet the Titans couldn't overcome UC Riverside's three players who scored double-digits in the 90-43 loss at Titan Gym on Thursday night.

The Titans (2-22, 0-10 BWC) surrendered a season-high 90 points while recording a season-low in field goals made with 14 on the night.

UC Riverside's Brittany Crain set a career-high with 39 points to lead UC Riverside by putting up seven three-pointers.

The Titans jumped out to the quick lead with layups from both Nubla and Michelle Berry until Riverside tied the game back up at 5 a piece.

The game began with a back and forth battle between the two teams with Riverside taking the lead before the Titans coming back to tie it up once again heading into the first media timeout.  

The battle continued as the game remained tied at the end of the first quarter at 14.

Riverside began the second period by going on a 19-2 run until Jade Vega added four to help close the gap for the Titans.

Riverside scored 36 points in the 2nd quarter, the most points the Titans have allowed in a single period.

The Titans ended the first half with a 30-point deficit, trailing 20-50. Vega and Berry recorded six points each while Dhanyel Johnson led the way defensively pulling down four rebounds.

Fullerton continued to battle throughout the 3rd period, putting up 12 points yet still trailed Riverside who ended the third quarter with a 36-point lead.

The Highlanders continued to dominate offensively as they recorded a 13-2 run to start the final quarter of play.

Although a late spur from Dani Craig simply wasn't enough as Riverside ran away with the game, beating the Titans 90-43 to improve to 9-0 in conference play.

The Titans return to action on Saturday afternoon as they head north to UC Davis to rematch the Aggies at 2 p.m.
