FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton traded early first half runs with Albany, but couldn't overcome a late first half spurt from the Great Danes, falling 71-49 on Wednesday night at SEFCU Arena in Albany, N.Y.

For Fullerton (0-3), the loss marks its third straight defeat to open the season. The Titans were led by junior guard Chante Miles, who scored 20 points on 6-of-14 shooting, while dishing out a season-high five assists. Junior forward Kathleen Iwuoha added seven points and six rebounds before leaving the contest with 5:41 left to play due to an injury.

Albany (4-0) was led by Shereesha Richards who was too much for Fullerton to handle, as she posted a double-figure scoring effort with 22 points, while also grabbing six rebounds. Megan Craig and Tammy Phillips both added 13 points off 6-of-8 shooting.

The Titans and Great Danes each came out with good energy to start the game, as both teams traded bucket after bucket. In fact, Miles hit a mid-range jumper with 15:24 left in the first half to give Fullerton a 10-8 advantage, but that was the last time the Titans had the lead.

Fullerton had seven first-half turnovers, which directly led to 11 of Albany's first half points. Despite the sloppy play, the Titans still found themselves in the game, down 35-22 at halftime.

However, things started to unravel in the second half, as Albany exploded on a 14-4 run just over the first seven minutes of the half to open up a commanding 49-26 lead with 12:54 left to play.

The Great Danes built their lead to as high as 27 points. Albany also outscored the Titans 44-12 in the paint for the ball game.

The Titans finished the night shooting 29.5 percent from the field and 20 percent from three-point range. Albany had the hot-hand shooting 53 percent from the floor 31 percent from behind the arc. They were outrebounded 41-35.

Fullerton continues its swing of four straight road games on Friday, November 22 in New York, N.Y., at Columbia. The matchup between the Titans and Lions tips off at 9 a.m. PT.
