FULLERTON, Calif.-

Cal State Fullerton guard Alex Thomas drove the length of the floor and converted the game-winning basket with 48 seconds left for the Titans as they defeated Cal State Dominguez Hills, 45-43, in an exhibition contest at Titan Gym on Friday night.

Mya Olivier scored 12 points, including 10 in the second half, and grabbed eight rebounds, to lead the Titans. Thomas recorded nine points, while Chante Miles and Hailey King both added seven, respectively.

It didn't look promising early for Fullerton, as the Titans came out of the gate sluggish, shooting 25 percent in the first half, but the stingy Fullerton defense kept the Titans in the game forcing eight first-half turnovers. Despite shooting just 25 percent for the half, the Titans trailed only 19-18 at the break.

After a back-and-forth start to the second half, CSDH's Julia Poecksteiner's trey gave the Toros their biggest lead of the game at 41-31 with 6:50 left to play. However, Fullerton fought its way back scoring nine unanswered points and cutting the Toros lead down to one.

After a Tayler Champion jumper put the Toros lead back up to three, King hit a corner three to tie things up at 43 with 2:36 left to play. Two minutes later after a defensive stop by the Titans, Thomas propelled the Fullerton with her late game heroics.

Cal State Dominguez Hills got 15 points from Champion and Monay Lee grabbed seven rebounds.

Fullerton will begin the regular season on Friday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. in Titan Gym when it plays host to South Dakota.
