FULLERTON, Calif.—Hall of Fame Cal State Fullerton head coach Billie Moore is one of just five AIAW (Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women) head coaches who will be honored at halftime of the Women's Final Four championship game in New Orleans Tuesday night.
Moore was the first women's coach to win national titles at two different schools, as she led the Titans' to their only national title in school history in 1970, as Fullerton finished the season 17-1 and defeated West Chester 50-46 in the CIAW championship game. She then won the title again in 1978 as the head coach at UCLA.
Moore coached at Fullerton for eight seasons (1969-77) and tallied up an overall record of 140-15 (.903) as the head coach of the Titans. She also compiled a 56-1 home record during that span, with her only home defeat coming on Feb. 20, 1975 vs. UCLA.
To this day, her .903 winning percentage is the highest of any head coach in Cal State Fullerton women's basketball history.
Former Titan head coach Denise Curry will also be one of 10 AIAW players honored at halftime for her accomplishments at UCLA, where she set 14 school records, including being the Bruins' career leading scorer (3,198) and rebounder (1,310). She served as the head coach at Cal State Fullerton from 1997-2000.
