IRVINE, Calif.—The Cal State Fullerton women's basketball program has been selected as one of two recipients for the 2013 Big West Winter Sportsmanship Award, Big West Commissioner Dennis Farrell announced Friday morning.

The Sportsmanship Award is voted upon in each of the conference's 16 championship sports by the respective student-athletes. Each participating student-athlete selects the school that they feel demonstrates excellent conduct in competition and is most deserving of the award.  The winning teams are chosen at the end of every season (Fall, Winter and Spring).

Along with the Titan women, the UC Irvine men's basketball team was chosen as the award's recipient on the men's side.

"The UC Irvine men's basketball and Cal State Fullerton women's basketball programs have demonstrated the highest standards of conduct in competition based on the feedback of their peers," said Farrell on the nominations.  "I commend these two programs for being positive influences on the court."

The Titans' 2013 season ended with their first trip to conference tournament's semifinal round since 2009.
