Nevada (1-0, 0-0 Mountain West) was led by freshman guard Terilyn Moe who stole the show, leading all scorers with 20 points, going a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line. Arielle Wideman and Chanelle Brennan also chipped in combining for 30 points and 10 boards.

The Titans (0-1, 0-0 Big West) fell behind early, as they missed 12 of their first 14 shots from the field, which led to an 18-8 Nevada lead with 12:17 to play in the first half.

Over the next four-plus minutes, sophomore Chante Miles sparked the Fullerton offense, scoring eight of her 11 total points, including two three-pointers and a steal helping to lead a 16-1 scoring run. This gave the Titans a 24-19 lead with 7:48 to play in the half.

An Alex Thomas three-pointer with 5:11 to play in the period gave the Titans their biggest lead of the game at 11 points.

Fullerton went into the locker room with 44-37 halftime advantage, but the Wolf Pack started the second half much like it started the game, scoring 10 of the first 13 points to tie things up at 47-47 with 16:03 left to play.

Nevada and Fullerton went neck-and-neck the rest of way, as neither team led by more than five points and both sided were tied eight separate times.

With under two minutes left, the Titans had three chances to either tie or take the lead, but came up empty on all three tries, eventually falling to defeat.

The Titans shot 33 percent from the field in only the team's second opening night loss in the last five seasons.

 

Fullerton will now fly home and try to get in the win column when it faces the Sacramento State Hornets Sunday at 2 p.m. in Titan Gym.

 

The Titans defeated Sacramento State 81-64 in last season's opener.
