FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's water polo and head coach Kyle Witt announced the 2023 schedule for its inaugural season Friday afternoon.
"This first recruiting class was brought in solely for what they can provide to our team for building our team and program structure," Witt said. "While talent and position were considered, if the student-athlete did not have the ability to add to the fabric of our culture, we were not interested in having them join our program."
The Titans are set to host 10 games during the 2023 season with its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 16, against Chapman at 7:00 p.m.
Fullerton opens the season at the Triton Invitational with games on Sept. 2-3. The Titans compete in four games at the Inland Empire Classic on Sept. 9-10 before returning home for its home opener against Chapman on Sept. 16. Their matchups are yet to be determined for both tournaments.
The Titans play a doubleheader at Pepperdine on Sunday, Sept. 17 where they will take on Cal Maritime at 2:30 p.m. and the Waves at 5:00 p.m.
Fullerton hosts the Titan Invitational at the Titan Aquatics Center on Friday, Sept. 22 and Saturday, Sept. 23. They play four games in two days against Austin College (Sept. 22), Air Force (Sept. 22), Biola (Sept. 23) and Claremont McKenna (Sept. 23).
They then host Mt. Saint Mary's on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 7:00 p.m. before hitting the road for the Gary Troyer Invite in Claremont against UC Merced (Sept. 29), McKendree (Sept. 29), Claremont McKenna (Sept. 30) and La Verne (Sept. 30).
Big West Conference play will commence for the Titans on the road against UC Santa Barbara on Saturday, Oct. 7 at noon. They face Merced in a neutral game the same day at 5:00 p.m.
Fullerton returns home on Oct. 13 to face UC San Diego and Concordia on Oct. 14 at 7:00 p.m. before hitting the road for a game at UC Davis (Oct. 20) and two games at the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament (Santa Clara and Brown) on Saturday, Oct. 21.
The Titans host rivals Long Beach State at Titan Aquatics Center on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7:00 p.m. PT. Fullerton's final home game of the season is Saturday, Nov. 4 against UC Irvine at 7:00 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season at California Baptist on Nov. 11.
The Big West Conference Tournament will be held at UC San Diego starting Friday, Nov. 17 through Sunday, Nov. 19.
