San Luis Obispo, Calif. - David Zamora's goal in the 48th minute gave Cal Poly a 1-0 Big West Conference men's soccer win Wednesday night over Cal State Fullerton.

The win lifts the Mustangs to 7-6-3 overall and 4-3-2 in the Big West for 14 points and third place. The Titans drop to 6-10-2 and 4-5 and are now tied for fourth place with UC Davis with 12 points.

The Aggies' schedule ended Wednesday night with a 1-0 loss to UC Riverside, which could forge a 3-way tie for fourth with a win Saturday at UCSB. The top four teams qualify for next week's post-season tournament.

Jake Hustedt got the assist on Zamora's goal with a diagonal cross through the penalty box.

Patrick McLain got the shutout in the Cal Poly net with 4 saves. Trevor Whiddon made 7 saves in defeat for the Titans.

Cal Poly outshot the visitors, 23-16.

The pairings for the 4-team field for the post-season tournament will be decided Saturday. The Titans host UC Irvine while UCSB hosts UCR and Cal Poly plays Cal State Northridge, which upset UCI Wednesday night. UCI and UC Santa Barbara have locked up the top two seeds and host roles.
