Northridge, Calif. - Junior Nick Posthuma had a goal and an assist to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 3-1 Big West Conference men's soccer victory Wednesday night at Cal State Northridge.

Jesse Escalante and Antonio Vernaschi also scored for the Titans, who improved to 4-6-2 and 3-2-0 on the season in avenging a 3-0 home loss to the Matadors on Oct. 2. CSUN fell to 2-8-2 and 1-2-1 and remained winless in its three matches since its win at Fullerton.

Posthuma's header off a throw-in by Jonathan Birt in the 35th minute was his team-best fifth of the season and proved the game winner, giving the Titans a 2-0 lead. Posthuma assisted on Vernaschi's clinching goal in the 84th minute. Escalante had put Fullerton ahead with his second goal of the season in the 24th minute with a header of an Oscar Aguero free kick.

Trevor Whiddon made 4 saves in the net for the Titans while Michael Abalos had 3 for the hosts. The Matadors' only score came in the 64th minute when Rafael Garcia dribbled through the Titan defense before passing to Camilo Rojas, who beat Whiddon to the lower left.

Fullerton's next game is a non-conference home match against Hope International on Saturday night in Titan Stadium.
