Northridge, CA - Alec de Mattos scored in the 70th minute and that was all No. 22-ranked Cal State Northridge needed Tuesday afternoon to blank Cal State Fullerton, 1-0, in men's soccer action.

The win improved the Matadors to 7-2-2 overall and 3-0-1 in the Big West Conference while the Titans lost their third match in a row, all by shutout, to fall to 2-8-1 and 0-3-0.

Fullerton held its own in the scoreless first half as Kevin Guppy had to make four saves for CSUN to none for Fullerton's Matt Cowan. But the Matadors picked it up in the second half to outshoot Fullerton, 13-5, and de Mattos got a shot past Cowan into the net from about 12 yards out with assists from Ryan rossi and Daniel Paladini.

Fullerton tries its luck on the road again Friday afternoon at UC Riverside., The Titans are 0-4 away from home and have yet to score in a non-friendly goal.
