Northridge, Calif. - Celso Alvarez scored twice and Trevor Whiddon and Pablo Gonzalez combined on a shutout in the net as Cal State Fullerton beat Fairleigh-Dickinson, 3-0, Sunday afternoon, to earn a share of the championship of the Matador Men's Soccer Invitational.

The Titans improved to 3-1 while the Knights fell to 2-2. Host Cal State Northridge came from behind to beat Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 2-1, to earn a share of the title.

Alvarez put the Titams ahead in the fifth minute, converting a crisp cross from Johnathan Birt at close range. He made it 2-0 in the 53rd minute on a brakaway from Michael Denny. Shay Spitz completed the scoring with his first goal of the season in the 75th minute with an assist from Jamall Farquharson.

Whiddon went the first 81 minutes in goal and had to make only one save. Fullerton outshot the Knights, 14-6.

Next up for the Titans is a trip to UCLA on Thursday night and then the home opener on Sunday afternoon vs. Saint Mary's.
