Columbus, OH - Jamall Farquharson seized upon a Penn State turnover and failed clearing attempt to score the game winning goal eight minutes into overtime Friday night as Cal State Fullerton opened its 2009 men's soccer season with a 2-1 victory at the Wolstein Classic at Ohio State.

Fullerton's Celso Alvarez scored off a rebound in the third minute of the second half to tie the score at 1-1 after the Nittany Lions (1-1) had controlled much of the first half and taken a 1-0 lead on a score by Jason Yeisley in the 30th minute.

Trevor Whiddon logged six saves in the Titans' net to get the victory. Warren Gross made 3 saves for Penn State.

The teams were even in fouls and corner kicks while Penn State had a narrow 17-16 edge in shots.

Fullerton will play for the tournament championship on Sunday. The Titans face Ohio State, which tied Gonzaga, 1-1, in Friday's second match.
