FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer scored three goals in the eight minutes of the second half to secure a 3-2 comeback victory over Cal Poly Wednesday night at Titan Stadium. With the win, the Titans sit at a 7-4-2 record and second place in the Big West with a 2-1 record.
Cal Poly took an early 1-0 lead over the Titans in the second minute after Tony Ruiz buried the ball into the upper left net on a free kick outside the 18-yard line.
After the goal, the Titan defense silenced the Mustangs from taking additional shots. At the half, Fullerton recorded five shots, three of which were shots on goal to Cal Poly's one shot.
Julian Madrigal tied the game 1-1 in the 47th minute. Jessy Sotelo assisted on Madrigal's goal for his third of the season.

Justin Jovel was a key figure on the pitch in the second half, being responsible for both the go-ahead and lead-extending goals within minutes of one another for the Titans.
His goal at the 49th minute mark assisted by Madrigal put the Titans ahead of the Mustangs, 2-1, for the first time during the match. It was Jovel's first collegiate goal at any level.

Madrigal set Jovel up for his second goal at the 53rd-minute mark, extending their lead 3-1 over the Mustangs. Madrigal has seven assists on the season.

Cal Poly tightened Fullerton's lead 3-2 in the 83rd minute, but could not retake the lead over a Titan team focused on playing keep away.
The Titans return to Big West play Saturday on the road at UC Santa Barbara. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
