Banihani Scores in 87th Minute to Lift Titans Past Incarnate Word

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Cal State Fullerton defeated Incarnate Word, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon behind Reziq Banihani's game-winning goal in the 87th minute of action. With the win the Titans are 5-2-2 on the year. 

With time winding down and the game tied at 1-1, the Titans got the ball deep in the Cardinals zone and found Banihani by himself on the left wing to score the game-winner. 

Banihani ranks second in the Big West with 14 points on four goals and six assists. His six assists ranks first in the Big West and tied for second in the nation. 

Sebastian Cruz got the Titans on the board late in the first half to put the team up 1-0. Cruz dribbled through several Incarnate Word defenders before finishing with his left foot just inside the 18-yard box. 

The junior captain leads the Big West with 20 points on a conference and NCAA best eight goals and four assists. 

Cruz and Banihani rank first and second in the Big West with 20 and 14 points, respectively. The next closest player in the Big West has eight points. 

The Titans return back to Southern California but continue their road trip as they head to No. 20 UCLA Saturday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
