FULLERTON, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's soccer hits the road for the first time this season as it heads north for a matchup with San Francisco Sunday at 5:00 p.m. PT.
The Titans head into the contest as the No. 14 ranked team in the country with a 6-0 record on the season, tying their best start to a season since 2000. Fullerton looks to equal the best start in program history Sunday at 7-0.
Christian Pinzon has been on a tear through the first six games, leading the Titans in total points with 13 on four goals and five assists in six games. Pinzon's 13 points ranks third in the Big West Conference while his four goals rank tied for fourth and his five assists ranks second in the conference and tied for fifth in the country.
Pinzon scored one goal and assisted on another in the Titans 2-0 win over Air Force while also recording one goal and one assist in Fullerton's victory over No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast to earn him Top Drawer Soccer's National Player of the Week.
After leading the Titans to two victories last weekend, including a shutout victory of former ranked No. 14 Florida Gulf Coast, Paul-Andre Guerin was named Big West Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
San Francisco is 2-4 this season with its only wins coming last week against San Jose State and UNLV. The Dons suffered a loss Thursday night to fellow member of the Big West, Sacramento State.
The Titans are 8-12-2 all-time against San Francisco but have won the previous four matches without conceding a goal, including last year's 4-0 win at Titan Stadium. Fullerton has outscored the Dons 11-0 over the past four matches.
