Goni's Goal Gives Titans 1-0 Victory Over Sacramento State

FULLERTON, Calif. – For the second straight match, Fullerton came up with a shutout victory to defeat Sacramento State 1-0 in its final regular season match at Titan Stadium Saturday night on Senior Night.

Just 18 second into the second half Oscar Flores made a perfect pass to Samuel Goni down the right side of the field who chipped the ball past the goalkeeper to give the Titans a 1-0 lead which they would hold onto. Goni now has five goals on the season to lead the team.

Fullerton out-played the Hornets throughout the entire first half, with eight shots to Sacramento State's just one. However, the Titans weren't able to put one in the back of the net until Goni and Flores connected 18 second into the second half.

Paul-Andre Guerin and the Titans defense once again come up with shutout, the sixth of the season. Guerin made stellar save in the 70th minute to keep the Titans lead 1-0 as the Sacramento State attacker had a free look on net from a few yards outside of the six-yard box, Guerin dove and made the stop allowing his defender to clear the ball.

"It was almost like a PK (penalty kick)," Guerin said. "I saw him coming down the middle of the field and I just dove guessing which way he was going to kick it."

With the shutout, Guerin now has 14 for his career and needs just one more to move into a tie for fourth all-time in the history of the program.

Fullerton got an array of shots off all night, out-shooting Sacramento State 16 to seven. The Titans were given 16 fouls in the match with the Hornets being called for nine with three yellow cards given to Fullerton and two to Sacramento State.

The Titans now hit the road for the final four games of the season where they are an impressive 3-1-3 this year. Fullerton is set to play UC Irvine Wednesday before heading north to take on UC Davis Saturday.
