Five Titans Sign for 2016 Season

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team welcomed in five new faces to join the back-to-back Big West Conference Championship squad, announced by head coach George Kuntz on Tuesday.

The Titans signed four freshmen, all hailing from California while nabbing one transfer. 

In 2015, the won their first ever Big West South Division title while winning their second-straight Big West Tournament Championship, leading them to their second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance and hosting the first-round of the tournament for the first time in 20 years. The 2015 squad finished with an overall record 13-8-1 and posting the program's best record since 2000. The five new faces will look to make an immediate impact into the new championship tradition out on the pitch in the 2016 season.

Here is a closer look at the student-athletes who chose to represent the Titans in 2016:

Brian Peek
Height: 6'0"
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Laguna Niguel, Calif.
Position: F / MF
Experience: HS


Kuntz:  "Peek was one of the most prolific goalscorers in CIF this year and his club league season.  He ranks on the top of the charts as one of the top goalscorers in Southern California this year.  He is always dangerous around the goal and has no fear near the goal."


Rolando Munoz
Height: 5'8"
Year: Junior
Hometown: Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.
Position: Midfield
Experience: TR

Kuntz: "Munoz provides our program a creative #10 specialist in our attack and can find teammates with pinpoint passes.  He has US National team experience at the youth levels.  He is a lethal free kick specialist that makes his teammates better in every possession and pass."
 

Rei Dorwart
Height: 5'9"
Year: Freshman
Hometown: San Francisco, Calif.
Position: Forward
Experience: HS 

Kuntz: "Rei attended one of our ID camps and we had seen him play for the San Jose Earthquakes Academy in the US Developmental Academy system.  He is a great 1v1 attacker that also provides tremendous service and goal producing ability. His work ethic is a trademark of our teams."

 

Alfredo Cortez
Height: 5'11"
Year: Freshman
Hometown: Monrovia, Calif.
Position: GK
Experience: HS

Kuntz: "Alfredo comes to CSUF as another one of the highly touted goalkeepers that has the ability to make the difficult things easy and the simple things routine.  He is a very good goalkeeping prospect and regarded as one of the best in the LA area playing for FC Golden State Academy as part of the USSFDA."

 

Samuel Goni
Height: 5'9"
Year: Junior
Hometown: Marcilla, Navarra, Spain
Position: F
Experience: TR

Kuntz:"The Spanish creative attacker is going to electrify the fans in Titan stadium this year with his attack minded influence in the game.  His Spanish Academy pedigree will bring added flair with effectiveness to create from several attacking positions in our scheme."
