FULLERTON, Calif. – The Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team earned a 1-0 win over CSUN in Wednesday night's Big West South Division contest at Titan Stadium on a game-winning goal by senior Marc Fenelus.

The breakthrough came in the 19th minute courtesy of a Ritchie Gonzalez shot that hit the post, but fell right into the waiting foot of Fenelus.  The forward had a wide open net to shoot at with no one in front of him, putting the ball in the back of the net for the 1-0 Fullerton lead.

CSUN couldn't figure out the Titan defense in the first half, putting its first shot on CSF goalkeeper Jeff Salt in the 40th minute.  The half ended with the score 1-0 as the Titans held the total shot lead over the Matadors 7-2, as well as corner kicks, 4-1.

The Matadors had a golden chance to tie it up in the 75th minute, but Marino Peixoto, put too much behind a free kick just outside of the box and it flew over the crossbar, preserving the 1-0 lead for Fullerton.

A scramble in the box in the 90th minute gave Cal State Fullerton its biggest scare of the night, but Salt and the Titan defense cracked down once again and blocked a last ditch attempt from Nicolas Camacho as the final whistle blew.

The Titans are back on the pitch Saturday at UC Riverside Soccer Stadium to take on the UC Riverside Highlanders at 7:00 p.m.
