No. 7 Anteaters Shut Out Titans, 1-0

IRVINE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton's three-match winning streak was snapped on Saturday night as the Titans suffered a 1-0 loss to No. 7 UC Irvine at Anteater Stadium.

UCI's Bryan Breslin scored the game winner in the 72 minute, converting a volley courtesy of Gor Kirakosyan's corner kick.

With the win, UC Irvine improves to 11-1-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the Big West Conference, while Cal State Fullerton falls to 7-6-2 overall and 2-3-0 in the Big West.

UCI held a 13-9 edge in shots including a 10-5 advantage in the second half. A total of 25 fouls were called in the match with Fullerton committing 14, while six yellow cards were issued during the game – three to each team.

UCI goalkeeper Michael Breslin totaled four saves for the Anteaters while CSF goalkeeper Jeff Salt made two saves.

The match marked Cal State Fullerton's first-year head coach George Kuntz's return to UC Irvine as he served at the helm of the UCI program for 19 years (1995-2013) before joining the Titans in December of 2013.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Wednesday, hosting CSUN at Titan Stadium at 7 p.m.

Notes: Cal State Fullerton was shut out for the fourth time this year…the Titans three-match winning streak was snapped…UC Irvine leads the all-time series 23-19-7.
