Titans Announce Spring Schedule

FULLERTON, Calif. – Newly-hired head coach George Kuntz and the Cal State Fullerton men's soccer team returns to action for a spring slate of games, as the Titans prep for its 2014 schedule.

Fullerton will play eight matches during the spring, hosting all of them at Titan Stadium.

"We're excited to play a spring schedule that will test us internationally to pro clubs, and division two teams," said Kuntz.

The Titans began their spring schedule this past Sunday against Ryutsu Keizai of Japan. Ryutsu Keizai is one of the premier college teams in Japan and also faced Cal State Northridge this past weekend.

On Tuesday, Minnesota United FC will make its way to Titan Stadium for a 10 a.m. start. Minnesota United FC is an National Soccer League Club, which last season finished fourth and was the 2011 NASL champion.

On Thursday, March 6, Fullerton will host a doubleheader at Titan Stadium as the Orange County Blues (10 a.m.) and Mt. SAC (7:30 p.m.) make the venture to Fullerton.

Fullerton will then compete against Chivas USA U-23 team and Cerritos College on Sunday, March 16 for a 2 p.m. start with the Cerritos contest following after the conclusion of the Chivas match.

The Titans close their spring schedule at Titan Stadium in another double-header against Cal State San Marcos (10 a.m.) and Cal Poly Pomona (12 p.m.) on Saturday, April 12.

Admission to soccer spring matches is free of charge.

"I think the competition level for us will be really good because we're still trying to evaluate where we stand and what our needs will be for the fall, along with learning a new system and way of play".

The Titans return to the pitch following a 2013 season where the team went 6-11-1 overall and 3-6-1 in conference play.

Returners for 2014 include midfielder Ian Ramos- a Big West honorable mention and the team's leader in scoring (4), points (11), and shots on goal (11).

Junior midfielder Garrett Losee also returns after scoring three goals last season. Junior Spencer Johnson, who led the Titans in assists a season ago, is also back for his senior campaign.

"By the end of the spring schedule we will have set some standards and it will be big for what we need to build on in the fall".
