Titans Head to Northridge then Host UC Riverside

Complete Notes and Statistics (PDF)

Cal State Fullerton (6-6-1, 3-1-1) heads to No. 7 Cal State Northridge (11-2-1, 3-1-1) for a mid-week matchup of the South Division co-leaders and then returns home to host UC Riverside (6-5-3, 1-3-1) for a Saturday evening event at Titan Stadium. Both matches begin at 7 p.m.

For the Titans the stakes can't get much bigger than when facing the Matadors as the winner will take control of the South Division of the Big West. Not only are their conference records and points identical, but each team played opponent's to a double-overtime draw on Saturday night, so each team comes into the mid-week contest with 110 minutes of action logged in the previous four days.

Speaking of Saturday: In 53 seconds of action vs. UC Irvine, three goals were scored, including a go-ahead goal scored by Marc Fenelus just nine seconds after the Anteaters had tied the match at the 84:51 mark.

Why so much attention to the time? Because the consecutive goals in 9-seconds ranks among the all-time bests in the history of the NCAA. In fact, the last time opponents scored in under 10 seconds in men's collegiate soccer was in 2007, so we figured it was important to really study the time.

Who's Leading the Titans:

Ian Ramos and Garrett Losee now lead the Titans offense, both with three goals and an assist, good for seven points. Colin Okirie was credited with a pair of assists on both goals on Saturday night which moves him to three on the season.

Northridge Notes:

The Matadors lead the conference in average points per match with a 7.71 mark, but are No. 2 in goal scoring average with a 2.29 tally. Their goals against average is also good enough for the No. 2 spot at 0.97. Sagi Lev-Ari leads the offense with a remarkable 26 points scored on the season, 11 goals and four assists through 14 matches played. Adam Hobbs anchors the defense with a 0.94 gpm average. He has directed three shut outs.

The Matadors two losses on the season were to UCLA and UC Santa Barbara. Northridge played to a 0-0 draw with UC Riverside on Saturday night.

Highlander Notes:

A double OT draw with Cal State Northridge on Saturday night has to rank asthe highlight for the squad thus far in 2013. Romario Lomeli leads the team in points with seven (three goals and an assist). Ashkan Khosravi, with four starts in goal, boasts a 0.95 goals against average, but does not meet the minimum qualifications to rank among Big West leaders.

UC Riverside interim head coach, Tim Cuppelo was named to the postion in July following the departureof Junior Gonzalez.
