FULLERTON, Calif. - On the strength of a pair of first-period goals, Cal State Fullerton's defense took control and shut out its third consecutive opponent with a 2-0 win over Sacramento State.

The win vaults the Titans into a share of the Big West South Division lead as Cal State Fullerton improves to 6-6, 3-1 on the season, while Sacramento State falls to 2-7-3, 0-4.

Garrett Losee got the Titans on the board at 24:57 as he flicked a corner kick from Spencer Johnson by the Hornets goalkeeper, Teddy Sampson. Then, fewer than five minutes later Dyllan Stevens followed it up with a goal of his own off assists from Ian Ramos and Marc Fenelus.

"It was another good start for us. As a coach you're always concerned about the energy level following a big win like we had Friday night," Head Coach Bob Ammann said. "I thought our energy level was good and got early opportunities to attack and then capitalized."

Bryan Escalante (two saves) directed the Titans defense and earned the win in goal. Cal State Fullerton had 14 shots, while Sacramento State took 11. There were nine corner kicks for the Titans and six for the Hornets.

The Titans will share the lead after tonight in the Big West's South Division as No. 4 Cal State Northridge and UC Irvine were both 2-1 heading into this evening's contests.

Cal State Fullerton hosts the Anteaters next Saturday night, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. at Titan Stadium.
