Titans to Honor Final Four 1993 Squad

FULLERTON, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton men's soccer program will remember and celebrate arguably the greatest team in Titan men's soccer history, as members of the 1993 Final Four team will be honored before the Titans' 7 p.m. game against UC Irvine on Saturday at Titan Stadium.

"The 1993 team is the team that put Cal State Fullerton men's soccer on the map," head coach Bob Ammann said. "No one really expected that team to be the national-caliber team that it was. Honoring this team on the 20th anniversary is the least we could do for a group that did so much for our program. I am really looking forward to seeing all the guys. It is amazing that it has been 20 years already."

The 2013 season marks the 20th year anniversary of the 1993 squad that finished the year with a record of 16-7 overall and a 5-2 mark competing in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. The team rattled off three consecutive NCAA Tournament wins over Fresno State, San Diego and San Francisco, outscoring its opponents 8-3 during that span before eventually falling to South Carolina 1-0 in the Final Four.

Current Titan women's soccer head coach Demian Brown was a member of the 1993 squad, while Matt Bradbury led the team with eight goals – including five game winners – while adding six assists.

Head coach Al Mistri (1981-2005) was at the helm of the program during its trip to the Final Four.

Ammann was a part-time coach with the Cal State Fullerton in 1993 following his career as Titan player from 1983-86. Since 1975, CSF has made seven NCAA appearances with the latest in 2000.

Members of the historic squad will be recognized before the match, as they'll take the pitch with the Titans.
