Long Beach, Calif. - John San Juan shot a 5-under par 65 Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the Del Walker Invitational Men's Golf Tournament to rank third individually but his Cal State Fullerton teammates struggled and the Titans are in 13th place in the taem standings.
Thursday's second round was cut well short when darkness covered Virginia Country Club and the completion of the second round and the third round will be played Friday.
San Juan was outscored only by Scott Clayton of UC Riverside at 53 and Daniel Cone of Saint Mary's at 64.
The Titans totaled 367 strokes to stand 25 shots behind front-running Colorado State and Saint Mary's, tied at 342, which is 8 under par. The other Titan scores: Dakota Duerr, 74; Nick Ellis, 75; Scott Rubzin, 76; Darren Saqui, 77; and Jacob Golenbiewski, 79.
