Golfers Improve to 7th

Victoria, Texas - Corey Gard and Scott Rubzin each shot a 4-under-par 68 Tuesday as Cal State Fullerton improved by 12 strokes from Monday and moved up one place to finish seventh in the 12-team Jim West Intercollegiate men's golf tournament at Victoria Country Club.

Gard and Rubzin finished with 54-hole totals of 219 to trail teammates Dakota Duerr (217) and Mark Anguiano (218). John San Juan finished at 250 and Ryan Tetrault scored 223 playing as an individual.

Fullerton's final score of 9-over 873 (301-292-280) trailed champion Sam Houston State (13-uinder 851) by 22 strokes. Stephen F. Austin was second at 863 followed by Texas State and UTEP at 865, second-day leader Idaho at 866 and Houston Baptist at 872.

The Titans play next at the UC Riverside Invitational.
