Gard Shoots Another 71

Oct. 18, 2011

Simi Valley, Calif. - Corey Gard shot his second sub-par round of the tournament Tuesday to help Cal State Fullerton move up one notch and finish seventh among the 13 teams at the fog-delayed Bill Cullum Men's Golf Invitational hosted by Cal State Northridge at Wood Ranch Golf Club.

Gard's 1-under-par 71 gave him a 54-hole total of 216 to finish in 14th place overall. Teammate Dakota Duerr was one stroke back at 217 followed by Scott Rubzin at 223, Mark Anguiano at 224 and Ryan Tetrault at 229 as the Titans completed the Fall portion of their 2011-12 schedule. John San Juan competed as an individual and shot 228.

Fullerton's team score was 872 or 8-over-par. Arizona State and Long Beach State tied for the team title at 853 and the Sun Devils' Spencer Fletcher and Tyler Torano of Loyola Marymount tied for individual honors at 8-under-par 208. There were no playoffs because fog delayed play for more than two hours.

Denver's C. J. Kim set a tournament record with a 64 on Monday and finished tied for seventh at 214.

Fullerton does not compete again until Feb. 12 at the Southern Utah Invitational.
