PHOENIX, Ariz. – Cal State Fullerton jumped up three places in the the third and final round of the Wyoming Cowboy Classic to finish in a tie for sixth out of 15 teams, Tuesday afternoon at the Whirlwind Golf Club.

The Titans were in ninth place after the first two rounds but finished the tournament strong with a 4-under par 284 to move up to a tie for sixth place. Fullerton was just three stokes behind Big West competitors UC Davis and Long Beach State who finished tied for 4th place.

UT San Antonio took first place in the tournament with a score of 22-under par 842. Sam Houston State finished in second place at 18-under par. UTSA's Sean Meehen finished in first individually with an 11-under par 68.

Much like the Titans as a team, Matt Wilson improved in the third and final round to finish the tournament tied for 17th place after shooting a 3-under par 213. Wilson was tied for 22nd heading into day two but shot a 2-under par 70 to finish the tournament strong.

Mark Cobey placed tied for 20th with a score of 1-under par 215. Cobey was tied for 17th after two rounds but fell back a few spots after shooting a 1-over par 73 in the third round.

Derek Castillo may have had the most to do with the teams overall improvement on Tuesday. Castillo was tied for 51st heading into round three but shot a 4-over par to finish the tournament tied for 20th.

Dalton Daniel finished the tournament tied for 40th at 3-over par 219 while Martin Manalo tied for 51st at 4-over par 220. Michael Sharkey competed as an individual and finished tied for 66th with a score of 8-over 224.

Fullerton has one more tournament to prepare for the Big West Tournament as they head to the El Macero Classic hosted by UC Davis beginning Friday.
