Fellow Big West Conference member Long Beach State overtook host UC Irvine, firing a third-round score of 296 to win the Anteater Invitational with a final three-round score of 27-over-par 891. UC Irvine finished second with a three-round score of 34-over-par 898, followed by CSUN (903, +39), Drexel (904, +40), Columbia (911, +47), Weber State (922, +58), Utah State (926, +62), Cal State Fullerton (927, +63), North Dakota State (932, +68) and Brown (963, +99).
Redshirt freshman Davis Holman, competing as an individual, fired a third-round score of 3-over-par 75 as his final score of 9-over-par 225 tied for ninth on the leaderboard.
Junior Matt Murphy led the contingent of Titans competing as a team and moved up six spots to 18th in the standings, shooting a third round score of 75 (+3), to complete the tournament at 12-over-par 228.
Freshman Jack Ireland shot the best round of the tournament for the Titans with a third-round score of 2-over-par 74. Ireland moved up nine spots on the leaderboard with a final three-round total of 13-over-par 229.
Sophomore Mark Cobey remained in 33rd place as his third-round effort of 79 (+7) completed his tournament at 236 (+20).
Cobey was even with teammate Mark Jensma as the redshirt senior shot a third-round score of 80 (+8) to finish at 20-over-par 236.
Freshman Matt Wilson finished in 41st place with a three-round score of 238 (+28) after firing an 80 (+8) in the third round.
Long Beach State's Daniel Chian claimed the individual title shooting a third-round score of 3-under-par 69, concluding the tournament with a final score of 217 (+1), surpassing teammate Kevin Lee (219, +3).
The Titans will play Monday and Tuesday, April 11-12, at the OGIO UCSB Invitational before the Big West Championship, May 2-4, at Wood Ranch Golf Course in Simi Valley, Calif.
