Titans Struggle on Day One of Anteater Invitational

First & Second Round Results

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. – Returning to the course in competition for the first time in three weeks, the Cal State Fullerton men's golf team struggled in its first two rounds of action at the 35th Anteater Invitational on Monday at El Niguel Country Club.

Fullerton finished the day in ninth place with a final score of 43-over-par 619 after shooting a first-round score of 308 followed by a second-round mark of 311.

Host UC Irvine will enter the third round on Tuesday in the lead after firing a two-round score of 14-over-par 590, followed by Long Beach State (+19, 595), Drexel (+28, 604), CSUN (+29, 605), Columbia (+29, 605),Weber State (+36, 612), North Dakota State (+37, 613), Utah State (+38, 614) and Brown (+67, 643).

Redshirt freshman Davis Holeman is competing as an individual, and currently with a score of 6-over-par 150 after identical first and second round scores of 75 (+3), is tied for 11th in the standings.

Junior Matt Murphy is leading the contingent of Titans competing as team after firing a two-round score of 9-over-par 153.

Murphy is closely followed by freshman Jack Ireland as the rookie is tied for 28th in the standings following a two-round score of 11-over-par 155.

Redhsirt Mark Jensma's fired a two-round score of 156 (+12), and is currently tied for 30th on the leaderboard.

Sophomore Mark Cobey shot a 76 (+4) in the first round but fired a second-round score of 9-over-par 81 to finish the day at 157 (+13) and in 33rd place.

Freshman Matt Wilson is currently in 40th place with a two-round score of 158 (+14), firing a 79 in both the first and second rounds.

UC Irvine's Jacob Schulze is at the top of the leaderboard shooting a two-round score of even-par 144, closely followed by Long Beach State's Kevin Lee (145, +1).

The Titans will conclude play at the Anteater Invitational on Tuesday playing the third and final round.
