Titans Add 4 Players

June 10, 2010

Fullerton, Calif. - The Cal State Fullerton men's basketball program has added four experienced players with the signing of New Mexico Military Institute power forward Sedric Martin and three Div. I transfers -- forward Omondi Amoke and guard D. J. Seeley from the University of California and guard Kwame Vaughn from the University of San Francisco.

Martin signed a national letter of intent and will be eligible for the upcoming 2010-11 season while the three D-I transfers, who signed grant-in-aid documents, must sit out next season. Seeley and Vaughn will start their Titan playing careers as juniors while Amoke will have only one playing season remaining.

"This is a tremendous lift for our program," said eighth-year Head Coach Bob Burton. "Martin is a big body, like Santwon Latunde at Cal State Bakersfield, whom we couldn't guard.

"The three transfers are quality Div. I players, who remind me of our signings of Scott Cutley, Frank Robinson and Ray Reed."

Martin, a 6-foot-6, 255-pound native of Austin, Texas, averaged 13.9 points and a team-best 6.7 rebounds last season for the Roswell-based Broncos. In Western Junior College Athletic Conference play he averaged 17.5 points and 7.6 boards.

The incoming trio bring the number of Div. I transfers who have arrived at Fullerton to 39 since it became a Div. I program in 1975. They bring the total to 16 during the Burton Era, which began in 2003-04.

Vaughn, a 6-foot-3 product of Skyline High School in Oakland, was the No. 2 scorer last season for the Dons. He averaged 12.6 points and 4.0 rebounds in 30 games, starting on 21 occasions. As a freshman in 2008-09 he averaged 10.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in 30 games, starting 18.

Amoke, a 6-foot-7 product of Oxnard High School, averaged 4.8 points and 4.6 rebounds in 33 games for the Golden Bears, starting 14 games for an NCAA tournament team that beat Louisville and lost to Duke. As a redshirt freshman in 2008-09 he averaged 2.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 32 appearances, all off the bench. He was injured in 2007-08.

Seeley, a 6-foot-4 product of Modesto Christian High School, averaged 2.4 points and 1.4 rebounds last season in 25 appearances, all off the bench. As a freshman in 2008-09 he averaged 2.0 points and 0.9 rebounds in 26 games.
