Saddleback Guard Signed

April 21, 2010

Fullerton, Calif. - Saddleback College guard Perry Webster has signed a national letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Cal State Fullerton beginning with the 2010-11 season.

Webster (6-foot-1) led the Gauchos to the California Community College championship this past season after playing his freshman year at Irvine Valley College in 2007-08.

"Perry is a proven winner," said Titans' Head Coach Bob Burton. "He's a leader and was the MVP of the state tournament."

Webster scored 19 points and had 7 assists in a 63-57 victory over San Francisco City College in the title game. For the season he averaged 11.0 points, 5.1 assists and 4.0 rebounds while shooting 44 percent from the 3-point line (24-for-54) in 30 games. The Gauchos went 29-5 and won their second state title.

At Mission Viejo High School, Webster was a three-time All-CIF selection and a four-time All-South Coast League pick. At Irvine Valley he averaged 5.3 points.

Streeter Transferring Out

Junior-to-be guard Jacques Streeter has informed Coach Bob Burton that he will be transferring out of the Cal State Fullerton men's basketball program. Streeter was a two-year starter at point guard and earned honorable mention All-Big West Conference recognition this past season. He started all 63 games in his two-year career and averaged 11.1 points and 4.6 assists.

Only a handful of Fullerton players have transferred to Div. I programs. The most successful was Josh King, who played three seasons at Rhode Island and gained the NCAA Regional finals as a senior in 1998, averaging about 8 points and 4 rebounds his last two years. Aaron Wilhite played two seasons (1993-94) at UNC Charlotte, Patrick Clardy (after one year at JC) played two seasons at USF averaging 12.5 points and Sharif Metoyer played a couple of seasons at Portland (1994-96).

Incoming transfers have made far greater impacts. Most notably, Scott Cutley (Kent State) and Josh Akognon (Washington State) became Big West Conference players of the year and Leon Wood (Arizona) was a first-team All-American for the Titans in 1984. A total of 36 Div. I players have arrived at Fullerton including current players Jer'Vaughn Johnson (San Diego State), Orane Chin (South Florida), Andre Hardy (Oral Roberts) and Sean Williams (Syracuse). Bryce Webster (Minnesota) and newcomer De'Andre Haskins (Valparaiso) arrived via community college programs.
