Portsmouth, Virginia - Josh Akognon is one of 64 players invited to the Portsmouth Invitational in Virginia which runs Apr. 8-11. Eight teams of 8 players each will compete before a bevy of NBA scouts.

Akognon has been assigned to the Portsmouth Partnership which features John Bryant of Santa Clara and Aaron Jackson of Duquesne among others. All of the team's players are at least 6-foot-4 except the 5-foot-11 Akognon.

The Invitational is designed to give exposure to players primarily from mid-major programs although the roster includes the likes of Alfred Aboya of UCLA, A. J. Price of UConn and Wink Adams of UNLV.

Akognon is joined by other Top 10 national scorers such as David Holston of Chicago State, Jermaine Taylor of Central Florida and Ben Woodside of North Dakota State. Some of the alumni of this event include Scottie Pippen, Dan Majerle and John Stockton.
