Fullerton, Calif. - Senior forward Gerard Anderson and sophomore guard Jacques Streeter had 20 points each Saturday evening to lead Cal State Fullerton to a 78-74 non-conference victory over Southern Illinois Edwardsville in an ESPNU Bracket Buster game.

The Titans improved to 14-12 while the Cougars fell to 4-22 after the school's first appearance in California. SIUE's Mark Yelovich had 32 points, two shy of the 34 he scored two nights earlier in a win at North Dakota.

Anderson added 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the year. Guard Aaron Thompson had 11 rebounds but only 2 points. Devon Peltier scored 16 points off the bench.

The Titans never trailed in the game but couldn't put the visitors away. Their biggest lead was 13 points, first at 43-30 at 16:39 and again at 72-59 with 2:53 to play. But they missed 5 of 9 free throws down the stretch to allow the Cougars to get within 4 points.

SIUE shot only 33 percent from the floor including 23 percent (8 of 35) in the first half, after which it trailed, 36-28. But the Cougars made 19 of 20 free throws while Fullerton made only 16 of 23. Fullerton shot 44 percent from the floor.

Fullerton next takes on Cal Poly in San Luis Obsipo on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. This game will be televised regionally on FSN West.
