BAKERSFIELD, CA - Alex Johnson scored 20 points and Donald Johnson added a season-high 16 plus 8 rebounds Tuesday night to lead Cal State Bakersfield to a 77-75 non-conference victory over Cal State Fullerton.

Devon Peltier had 23 points and Jer'Vaughn Johnson had 19 points and 9 rebounds for the Titans (8-13).

Bakersfield (9-11) snapped a pair of losing streaks - six games in a row this season and 12 in a row dating to 1973 to Fullerton, which had beaten the Roadrunners, 85-75, in Fullerton on Nov. 27.

Stephon Carter, the `Runners leading scorer at 17 points per game, went 0-for-15 from the floor but made 7 of 8 free throws including a pair with about 12 seconds to play for a 77-73 lead. Fullerton got a layup from Isiah Umipig and then got a chance to tie or win when Bakersfield turned the ball over with 4.6 seconds left. Orane Chin missed a spinning jump shot in the lane and the horn sounded.

Jer'Vaughn Johnson tied the game for the first time since 22-22 at 69-69 with 2:44 to play with a pair of free throws but CSUB got a baseline jumper from Donald Johnson. Jer'Vaughn Johnson tied it again at 71 at 2:03 with a layup but CSUB went 6-for-6 at the line to finish the game and ended up making a total of 27 of 32.

Fullerton's only lead of the game was 22-20 after a 15-0 run. But Bakersfield scored the next 9 points and eventually led by 11 at the half, 42-31, as Fullerton committed 12 turnovers to 2 for Bakersfield. Fullerton pecked away but could only get the ties at 69 and 71.

The Titans resume Big West Conference play Saturday night at Long Beach State in a game moved to 7:30 p.m. to accommodate Fox Sports West television coverage.
