Gerard Anderson earned honorable mention All-Big West Conference
in 2008-09... started 29 games and led the Titans in rebounding at
5.8 rpg... was third on the team in scoring at 9.0 ppg... shot 54
percent from the floor... scored in double figures 15 times... led
team with 45 steals... erupted for 14 points in a span of less than
5 minutes on his way to a 20-point second half in the season opener
vs. Texas State... finished with a season-high 21 points... had
season-high 12 rebounds vs. Wake Forest on Nov. 27... injured an
ankle one minute into the Central Michigan game, missing the
balance plus the next game at Montana State.
SADDLEBACK COLLEGE: Two-year starter for the Gauchos... as a
sophomore earned first-team All-Orange Empire Conference honors...
averaged 12 points and 7 rebounds for the season... had 12 points,
7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals before fouling out in the state
championship semifinals, a 76-75 loss to eventual champion Fresno
City College... had 23 points in quarterfinals victory over West
Hills and was one of six players on the state all-tournament
team... in Regional play he had 18 points in a win over L.A. City
College and 20 points plus 10 rebounds in a win over San Bernardino
Valley College... he hit a 7-foot bank shot with 1.4 seconds to
give the Gauchos a 44-43 victory over the state's No. 4-ranked
Riverside City College... for the low-scoring game, he had 15
points plus 5 rebounds and 4 steals... best scoring total was 31
points vs. L.A. Valley on Nov. 15... had 12 rebounds vs. Citrus on
Dec. 8... as a freshman averaged 11.8 points and 5.6 rebounds for a
22-9 squad and earned all-state honors but not all-conference
honors.
CARSON HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 17 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.5
assists and 2 steals at small forward for the Colts and Coach
Richard Masson... two-time Most Valuable Player of the Marine
League as a sophomore and junior... two-time first-team All-City
selection.... second-team all-state pick as a senior... most
improved player as a sophomore... attended Verbum Dei HS in Los
Angeles as a senior.
PERSONAL: Born on June 16, 1987, in Los Angeles... parents are
Gerard Anderson and Kathy Houston... communications major but his
goal is to play professional basketball... has switched jersey
number from No. 24 to No. 5 for his senior season at the urging of
graduated Frank Robinson (No. 5)... most memorable sports moments
were the game-winning shot vs. Riverside and going to the Final
Four at state in 2007.
