Jalen Cooper Signs with Men’s Basketball Program

FULLERTON, Calif. — Jalen Cooper has signed to join the Cal State Fullerton men's basketball program for the 2023-24 season, head coach Dedrique Taylor announced Tuesday.

"Jalen is another high character young man that I am excited about," Taylor said. "He gives us some versatility with his size, athleticism and overall skill set. We are anxious to get on the court with him as I think his best basketball is ahead of him."

A 6-foot-8 wing from Holiday, Florida, Cooper spent the last three seasons playing at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, Florida. He led his team in scoring in 2022-23, averaging 17.4 points on 52% shooting, including 43% from three, to go with a team-high 8.7 boards per contest. Cooper broke the single season school record in total rebounds with 234, while also leading his team in field goals (167), blocks (37) and steals (34).

Cooper was named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Year while also earning All-SSC second team honors last season. He started in all 27 games for the Sailfish in 2022-23 and scored a season-high 33 points to go with 10 rebounds in a game against Rollins on February 25th.

Cooper prepped under his father at Anclote High School, where he earned first team all-conference honors as a junior and senior and helped lead his team to a Class 4A District tournament championship his senior season.

Cooper is the sixth player to sign with the Titan program for 2023-24. He joins Beril Kabamba of Clearwater, Florida, Zach Visentin of Spanish Fork, Utah, Keith Richard of Dallas, Texas, Kendrick De Luna of San Antonio, Texas and Antwan Robinson of East St. Louis, Illinois.
