Men's Basketball Dominates Bakersfield, Wins 75-61

FULLERTON, Calif. – Fullerton Men's Basketball trounced CSU Bakersfield 75-61 on Saturday night at the Titan Gym. The game was also braodcast nationally on ESPNU.

Fullerton used a three-point barrage on Saturday night, hitting a season-high 12 three pointers to pull away from the Roadrunners.  

Five Titans were in double-figures on Saturday night, lead by Damari Milstead who had 17 points. LAtrell Wrightsell Jr. chipped in with 15, Tray Maddox Jr. had 13, while Jalen Harris had 11. E.J. Anosike had 10 points and 13 rebounds, recording his sixth double-double of the season. 

The Titans came out firing from behind the arc to start the game. Latrell Wrightsell Jr. hit back-to-back triples to give the Titans a 10-2 lead, five minutes into the game. 

The Titans hit a season-high seven total threes in the first half, their most in any half this season, including a deep three by Milstead.

In addition, they played stout defense throughout the half, holding the Roadrunners to 25 points, giving Fullerton an 11 point lead, 36-25 at the halftime break.

It was Milstead's turn to heat up from deep in the second half. He hit two threes early on in the half to tie his career-high of five made threes, giving the Titans a 16 point lead, 45-29. Then Tray Maddox Jr. got in on the action, sinking a three, and giving the Titans a 23 point lead.

The Titans didn't look back from there. They held the Roadrunners to 39% shooting from the field for the game, and 15% from behind the three point line, running out 75-61 winners.  

Up Next: The Titans head to Long Beach State on Tuesday, where they will battle the Beach for first-place in the Big West. Tip-off is at 7:00.

Final Stats:

The Titans moved to 14-6 on the season, the best ever start in the Dedrique Taylor era.

Fullerton improved to 7-1 in conference play, which puts them tied atop the Big West win Hawaii and Long Beach State.

That 7-1 mark is the best start in conference play in the Big West era for Cal State Fullerton.
