Anosike Named Big West Player of the Week

FULLERTON, Calif. – After leading Fullerton Men's Basketball to wins over CSUN, in which he scored a career-high 33 points, and UC Santa Barbara where he posted a double-double, E.J. Anosike has been named Big West Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday. 

The Player of the Week honor is Anosike's second of the season.

Anosike scored a career-high 33 points on 12-19 shooting in the Titans dominant 79-64 win over CSUN at the Titan Gym. He was also perfect from the free throw line, going 8-8, added nine rebounds, and had an assist and a block in the win. 

Two days later Anosike posted 20 points and 11 rebounds to record his third double-double of the season in the 79-73 win over UC Santa Barbara. He played all 40 minutes in the win, setting a new career-high in minutes played, while adding three assists, two steals and a block to his stat line.

In 14 games this season, all starts, Anosike leads the team in scoring with 18.8 points per game, which tops the Big West, and puts him 52nd in the country. While scoring at a high rate, Anosike has been extremely efficient from the field, shooting 54.8%, which puts him second in the Big West in that category, and 54th nationally. The East Orange, N.Y. native has posted three double-doubles this season, at Santa Clara (11/9), vs. George Washington (11/16) and vs. CSUN (1/13). He has also scored at least 10 points in 13 games, 20 points in six games and 30 points in one game. 

The Titans are back on the court this Thursday when they play UC Irvine at the Bren Events Center at 7 p.m., before returning home on Saturday to take UC San Diego at the Titan Gym at 6 p.m.
