Titans Lose at the Buzzer to San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton men's basketball lost to San Jose State on a buzzer beater, 78-76, Thursday night on the road. 

The Titans (0-2) trailed by 15 points in the first half and were behind by nine points at the break but battled back in the second half. Fullerton trailed by eight with under six minutes left in the second half when Dante Maddox Jr. completed an and-one to bring the team within five points. 

With the Titans trailing by two points, Latrell Wrightsell Jr. grabbed a defensive board and finished on the other end while completing an and-one to tie the game at 76. Neither team was able to score in the final 2:36 of the game before San Jose State scored at the buzzer to win the game. 

Wrightsell Jr. led the team with 17 points off the bench on 4-for-7 shooting while shooting 8-for-8 at the free-throw line. Dante Maddox Jr. contributed off the bench with nine points on 3-for-5 from the field. 

Four out of five Titans starters scored in double figures led by E.J. Anosike who scored 14 points, shooting an impressive 6-for-8 on the night. Vincent Lee and Damari Milstead added 12 points while Tray Maddox Jr. scored 11. 

The Titans return to Titan Gym for their home opener Tuesday, Nov. 16, against Geroge Washington. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. PT.
