CSUB Defeats MBB to Avoid Sweep

Bakersfield, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball failed to complete the sweep of CSU Bakersfield on Saturday night as the Roadrunners won 83-73. Five Titans scored in double figures and combined to score 69 of the team's 73 points. Fullerton was unable to repeat its hot shooting from Friday and the Roadrunners 60 points in the paint to secure the win.

Fullerton (5-6, 4-6 Big West) never led and the game was tied just once at at 5-5. CSUB (11-6, 7-3 Big West) owned the paint, not only scoring the 60 points but also winning the rebounding battle 41-24 and scoring 17 second-chance points. As a team, the Roadrunners shot 55.2% (37-67) from the field, 20% (2-10) from three and 63.6% (7-11) at the free-throw line. The Titans went 22-51 (43.1%) from the floor, 9-25 (36.0%) beyond the arc and 20-25 (80%) at the line.

Senior forward Josh Hall posted a line of 15 points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. Junior guard Tray Maddox Jr. tallied 15 points to go with four rebounds, one assist and two steals. Freshman guard Dante Maddox Jr. also scored 15 points to go with two rebounds and one steal. He posted a team-best +2 in the +/- category. Freshman point guard Latrell Wrightsell Jr. had 14 points, three rebounds and four assists. Sophomore guard Tory San Antonio pitched in 10 points, a team-high six rebounds and four assists.

Justin McCall (26) and Taze Moore (20) of CSUB were the game's two highest scores. 

Fullerton was without Vincent Lee and Jalen Harris due to injuries sustained in the first half of Friday's game.

Next up, Fullerton returns to Titan Gym to host UC Riverside on Friday and Saturday at 5 p.m. PT.
