Lee Leads MBB to 85-77 Win

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball moved to 3-4 (2-4 Big West) on the year with its 85-77 win against the CSUN Matadors on Sunday night. Redshirt sophomore forward Vincent Lee dominated the paint with a career-high 25 points along with 11 rebounds.

Fullerton trailed CSUN (5-4, 1-1 Big West) 41-40 at the half but scored the opening basket of the second period and did not relinquish that lead. The largest lead was 10 at the 9:51 mark of the second half but it was quickly cut down to three by the Matadors at the 7:53 mark and then one with 4:43 remaining. From there, the Titans closed the game on a 17-10 run to secure the win. Fullerton got a big lift from the bench, totaling 32 points and all four that played finished positive in the plus-minus category.

Lee shot 10-13 from the floor and a perfect 5-5 at the free-throw line to tally his 25 points. He hauled in five offensive rebounds and six defensive to make up his 11 total. It is his second double-double in the last three games. Junior wing Landis Spivey scored a career-high 13 points, providing a lift off the bench with 23 solid minutes. He shot 5-7 overall and 3-5 from distance to go with three rebounds, one assist and one block. Freshman guard Dante Maddox scored 11 points (4-5 FGA, 1-1 3FGA, 2-2 FTA) off the bench as well and contributed two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Sophomore guard Tory San Antonio scored 10 points (4-9 FGA, 1-3 3FGA) and had three rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Jalen Harris posted a team-high +12 in the plus-minus category in his 24 minutes of action. He pitched in four points, three rebounds and two assists.

As a team, the Titans shot a season-best (against a DI opponent) 50.8% (30-59) from the field, shot 40.0% (6-15) beyond the arc and 19-21 (90.5%) at the free-throw line. The Titans turned the ball over 14 times which led to 23 CSUN points but Fullerton dominated the glass with a 33-22 rebounding advantage.

CSUN guard Atin Wright led the team in scoring with 22 off the bench. Darius Brown II recorded 14 points, six rebounds, seven assists three steals and zero turnovers in 35 minutes.

As a team, the Matadors went 26-55 (47.3%) from the floor, 9-25 (36.0%) from distance and 16-17 (94.1%) from the line.
