MBB Wins Opener 94-70

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball opened up the 2020-21 season on Sunday with a 94-70 win over San Diego Christian. The Titans never trailed and led by as many as 42 at one point in the second half. Four Titans scored in double figures, led by junior guard Wayne Arnold with 19 points. Twelve of the 13 student-athletes that played for head coach Dedrique Taylor's squad, scored.

The Titans opened up the game on a 14-0 run and never looked back. The team moved the ball and shot the ball well with 22 assists on 37 field goals made (37-67, 55.2%). Fullerton connected on 44.0% of its threes (11-25) and 81.8% of its free throws (9-11). Taylor was pleased that the team turned the ball over just 12 times in their first game of the season. Fullerton tallied 46 points in the paint and scored 25 points off 18 turnovers by San Diego Christian.

In 23 minutes of action, Arnold hit 7-9 shots including 5-6 from beyond the arc for his team-high 19 points. He also chipped in four rebounds, four assists, one steal and two blocks. Junior guard Jalen Harris tallied 13 points, three rebounds and one assist with zero turnovers in 20 minutes. Sophomore guard Tory San Antonio also scored 13 points and dished out a team-high five assists with two rebounds and two steals in 24 minutes. Sophomore forward Vincent Lee shot 6-8 from the field and finished with 12 points and six rebounds in 16 minutes.

Next up, Fullerton is scheduled to play Pacific on Saturday, Dec. 19 at 3 p.m. PT.
