ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Big West Conference announced on Thursday morning that the Big West Men's and Women's Basketball Tournament have been canceled, effective immediately. 

"The main priority of the Big West Conference continues to be the health, safety and wellness of our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, fans and media as we continue to monitor all developing and relevant information on the COVID-19 virus," said the Big West Conference office in their press release.

Head men's basketball coach Dedrique Taylor on the cancellation: 
It's a tough situation and unprecedented times that we are seeing across the world. At this point, the safety of humanity takes over and we have to do what's best in the interest of the public. It's disappointing, of course, but these measures are necessary.

Senior guard Austen Awosika on the cancellation:
I'm just confused and lost for words. It's crazy that it all ended this way but it's hard to be upset because it's completely out of our control. This is just another reminder to everyone to never take anything for granted.
