FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball senior guard Brandon Kamga was named Big West Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Titans in scoring in both of their victories last week. It is his first weekly honor from the Big West.
The 6-foot-5 guard averaged 24.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists to lead the Titans to their second and third consecutive Big West victories. Kamga notched 21 points in 25 minutes to lead the Titans in a 78-74 road win against UC Davis on Wednesday. The High Point graduate transfer notched a career-high tying 27 points against CSUN in Saturday's 82-75 home victory.
He converted 11 of his 12 free throw attempts against the Aggies. He was clutch going 9-of-10 at the line in the final 1:19, including six straight in the last 23 seconds, which prevented an Aggie comeback. He also went 8-of-8 at the charity stripe against the Matadors and finished the week shooting 95.0 percent (19-of-20) at the line.
Kamga added four rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot against UC Davis. He knocked down two treys against UC Davis and three more versus CSUN.
A native of Reston, Va., Kamga has scored in double figures in 12 straight games.
Next up, Fullerton heads to Cal Poly on Thursday with a tip time of 7 p.m. PT.
