Kamga's 27 Leads MBB to Third Straight Win

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball earned an 82-75 win over CSUN on Saturday night, marking the team's third straight victory. Senior guard Brandon Kamga tied his career high of 27 points to lead the Titans.

Neither team shot particularly well (CSF - 37.7%, CSUN - 39.7%) but it was an intense, back and forth game. The Titans (8-13, 3-3 BWC) led the Matadors (8-14, 3-3 BWC) by 14 at the 7:05 mark of the first half but the lead was just four at the half. CSUN eventually took a 54-51 lead at the 15:16 mark of the second frame and the game was neck-and-neck the rest of the way as the difference in score was never more than five until the last 30 seconds of the game.

The game was tied at 75 with 1:06 left when CSUN forward Lamine Diane (32 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks) was charged with his fifth and final foul. Senior forward Jackson Rowe made the two free throws and then CSUN head coach Mark Gottfried was charged with a techincal foul. Kamga made those two free throws to push the lead to 79-75. The Titans got stops and made free throws the rest of the way to secure the win.

Kamga scored 19 of his 27 points in the first half and he finished a perfect 8-8 from the free-throw line. Senior guard Austen Awosika played 39 minutes and tallied 15 points (6-11 FGA, 3-4 FTA), five rebounds, six assists and a steal. Senior forward Davon Clare played 33 minutes and was a team-high +14 in the +/- category as he posted a line a of seven points, 10 rebounds, three assists and a steal. Senior forward Jackson Rowe drew a game-high nine fouls and finished with 16 points (9-12 FT), six rebounds, four assists, three steals and four blocks. Sophomore guard Wayne Arnold chipped in 10 points and six rebounds off the bench in 23 minutes.

Next up, Fullerton heads to Cal Poly on Thursday with a tip time of 7 p.m. PT.
