Men's Basketball Falls to UC Irvine

FULLERTON, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball fell to UC Irvine on Wednesday in Titan Gym by a score of 74-61. Four Titans scored in double figures, led by senior forward Jackson Rowe with 18 points. Collin Welp of UCI scored 20 points and hauled in 10 rebounds in 23 minutes of play.

The Titans (5-13, 0-3 BWC) led The Anteaters (10-8, 2-0 BWC) 16-15 at the 9:29 mark of the first half but the Anteaters closed the period on a 24-9 run to take a 39-25 lead into the locker room and they would not relinquish that lead. UCI handled the boards, winning the rebounding battle 44-35. The Anteaters shot 42.4% (25-59) from the field, 37.5% (9-24) from distance and 60% (15-25) at the free-throw line. Fullerton shot 38.5% (20-52) from the floor, just 28.6% (4-14) from three and 56.7% (17-30) at the line.

Rowe tallied 18 points and seven rebounds in 27 minutes. Senior guard Awosika posted a line of 11 points, three rebounds, one assist and a steal. Redshirt freshman forward Vincent Lee posted a career-high 13 points and hauled in seven rebounds. Senior guard Brandon Kamga pitched in 13 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Next up, Fullerton will play at Long Beach State at 4:30 p.m. PT on Saturday.
