LOS ANGELES - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball defeated UCLA by a score of 77-74 on Saturday afternoon thanks to senior guard Austen Awosika's game-winning bucket and steal to ice the game. It was the first win for the Titans against a Power 5 team since an 81-50 victory on Dec. 7, 2011 at Utah. The Titans picked up just their second-ever win against UCLA and the first since Nov. 16, 2009. Fullerton made 14 three-point field goals in the game, besting the previous season-high of nine.
It was 33-33 at halftime but the Titans (4-10) took a 65-51 lead at the 10:05 mark of the second half. However, the Bruins (5-8) clawed back to take a 68-65 lead with 4:54 left. The Titans closed well, though, with key buckets from senior guard Brandon Kamga, senior forward Davon Clare and Awosika. With the shot clock winding down, Awosika drilled a floater to push the lead to three. Then, with just two seconds left and UCLA in search of a game-tying three, Awosika stole the ball to secure the win.

Awosika had 15 points (6-14 FGA, 2-3 3FGA) to go with two rebounds, three assists and two steals. Senior forward Jackson Rowe tallied his 17th-career double-double and first of the season with 17 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and two steals. Senior forward Davon Clare pitched in nine points and all three buckets were from three.
As a team, the Titans shot 51% (29-57) from the field and 58% (14-24) from three.
Next up, Fullerton returns to Titan Gym to host St. Katherine on Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. PT as the last non-conference game of the season.
