Santa Clara, Calif. - Cal State Fullerton men's basketball could not hang on to its lead in the second half and ultimately fell 65-62 to Denver on Friday evening in game two of the Cable Car Classic. The Titans went ice cold down the stretch in Santa Clara University's Leavey Center while Denver went on a 7-0 run in the last 80 seconds to secure the win. Three Titans scored in double figures led by senior guard Austen Awosika with 18.

Tied at 30 at the half, the Titans (3-4 overall) went on a 21-4 run in the middle of the second frame to take a 13 point with nine minutes remaining but Denver would come back to cut the lead to one with just 1:21 remaining in the game. Fullerton came out of the ensuing timeout and got two shots off but missed both and Denver ultimately took the lead after a Titans foul with just 23 seconds left. Down one with 21 seconds left, the Titans came out the timeout looking to take the lead but the possession resulted in a turnover. Fullerton went the final 9:15 minutes without a field goal to end the game and went scoreless in the last two minutes.
